It took me forever to find this Microsoft number but the guy I spoke with was very nice, and stated Microsoft is aware of this scam, and it is being investigated by their legal department. I think that the more of us who call Microsoft about this, perhaps the more motivated they will be to shut these people down. Meanwhile I intend to tell the next caller that Microsoft is investigating them and the FBI is about to make arrests, so they better stop calling me. hehehe

Today, I answered angrily by screaming "don't call this number anymore." Someone then answered and said that they were with an IT company and that my computer was reported to be infected. I knew this was an obvious scam and repeatedly told the woman to stop calling our number. When I asked her if she understood me she said "no". I repeated myself and she said okay, we'll call you back! These people must be stopped. This is such an intrusion. There are many, many others who would agree.

I answered the 3rd call and was told by a heavy accented man that he was from Microsoft & they were getting a lot of error msgs from my computer. I told him if I had a problem w/my computer I could initiate a call. He then wanted to know if I had a computer, I answered yes & he said my computer had deadly viruses. Phone Number Report: I received a call early this afternoon from 999-910-0122. Said his name was Evan and he was a Technical Support Provider for Windows Writing Systems. He had a very heavy Indian accent. He said they had received several errors in windows and my computer was in danger of crashing. He had me go into my computer to look for myself. I questioned him about his company and how he got my phone number but he would not answer me. I asked repeatidly for his number and where he was calling from and all he would say was windows in Brooklyn NY. I was then transfered to a technical support supervisor who said his name was Sam (also with a very heavy Indian accent). He asked me for my cell phone number and I told him he did not need my cell number since he was already talking to me on my landline. He then proceeded to tell me that my Windows waranty had expired and I would need to pay a one time reactivation fee of $189.00 for a software maintainance waranty that would be valid for 2 years. I figured this was a scam since this was an unsolisited call and they were very vague but persistant about what they wanted me to do. I told him I could not deal with this right now as I had to pick up my daughter at school. He said he would call back at 3:00, to which I said "whatever"! I told my husband about the call when he got home from work and said if we got another call from them I would not answer the phone. I really did not think they would call back anyways. Well they called back at 4:10 but I let the answering machine take the call. They did not leave a message and less that 30 seconds later they called again but this time my husband answered the phone and told them we were not interested in what they had to offer. They would not take no for an answer and kept asking my husband to put me on the phone because I was the only person they wanted to deal with. Needless to say that wasn't going to happen! My husband told them never to call us again and hung up on them. They did not call back anymore tonight but tomorrow is another day! If they call back I will threaten them with a call to the FTC. I will also be calling my phone carrier to see how to block the calls in the future. By the way I am on the national do not call registry!
