Phone Number Report: When I answered the call (on my cell phone) there was a message that I had won a home entertainment center (package) or something worth over a thousand dollars. I can't remember teh exact value mentioned. I had not given out my number so I hung up. When I got home, I called the number and received a message that the number was not in service. Hmm, I wonder how I collect my entertainment package.

Phone Number Report: My husband and I both received calls this afternoon on our cell phones. It was a recorded call that started with some sort of pitch about home ownership. I pressed zero repeatedly to try to get an operator, but the call disconnected. Google says the phone belongs to somebody named Eric Futrell of Paterson NJ, but that is apparently a hijacked number, because when we called back we were told it was disconnected. How can this be stopped?

Phone Number Report: got this call on my cell phone. Seen this number on other complaint boards, some noting it's a machine selling auto warranties. Some noted there that it seems a common scam to spoof a recently disconnected number (it's apparently easy to spoof caller-ID numbers). like the others here, a machine selling satellite TV equip ("free HBO" - bah!) tells you to "press 1 to learn more," and if you hang on the line, eventually says, "or press 3 to remove." No word on if it actually removes you from anything, or merely hangs up.
