Caller Type: Telemarketer
Phone Number Owner: Card Services
Phone Number Report: Company calling offering to lower credit card interest rates. Starts with an automated recording telling you it's your last notice to lower your rates and to press "1" to speak to someone or "2" to be removed from their list. When you press "1" and speak to an agent and ask the company's name, they claim it is "Card Services" based out of Woodstock, Georgia. They want you to have sufficient debt and a high annual interest rate to qualify for their "lower interest rate" service. When you proceed through their screening, it becomes apparent that they want the phone number of your credit card company and your credit card number to "verify" your credit card account status (balance owing, etc.). They either hang up or flatly refuse to give you their phone number or their address despite it being a CTRC rule for a telemarketer to do so. Agent did admit they were calling on behalf of a Canadian company (Which makes them governed by the Canadian National Do Not Call List rules). Sounds very fishy to me. Agent also claims they do not have a website. Suggest that every Canadian file a complaint against this company to the Canadian National Do Not Call List website (if you're on the list) at www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca
