I usually never answer, but one morning in my sleepiness somehow I 'answered' the call on speakerphone and woman with heavy foreign accent identified herself as with Allied Capital One wanting to know my name and account number. I didn't respond to her and after a few tries of her going "hello?" loudly she hung up. In doing reading online I'm finding many complaints logged...but how can we do something that will truly stop these calls beyond just venting on a web site?

Phone Number Report: Received first call asking for my mother who I just the day before had to put in a nursing home. The caller used the formal name for my mother and asked if I knew her. I asked why, he said he was a collection agency. Since I have cared for my mother for a number of years and manage all her expenses on her behalf I knew she did not have any outstanding bills and this was most likely a fraudulent call. I did not acknowledge knowing who he was looking for. The caller said his name was Donald and he was calling from the Philippines and someone would call back to verify. Since then we have received multiple calls from 877 218 3219. I am certain this is a scam and not a legitimate debt collection
