Caller Type: Debt Collector
Phone Number Report: I returned the phone call after a suspicious voicemail they left...wanted to make sure I wasn't actually in trouble and to hear what kinda of bs they were actually going to feed me. It was amusing at first, the guy (Middle-eastern accent) couldn't answer any of my questions before he read a 5 minute affadavit. He claimed, after telling me my contact information from 3 years ago, that I owed something like $796 on a payday loan and the company was agreeing to settle for $400 something. He wasn't able to tell me the company name, or any specific date or year as to when I took out the loan. Thought it was pretty funny that he also used my "clean criminal background," alaiming that if I didn't pay it would get ruined and that I seemed like a good character. He went on and on about how I was committing a crime and would be going to jail for fraud if I didn't pay. I knew that it was all BS from the beginning, as I never had an $796 payday loan. I ended the conversation by telling him that in fact he was the one in fact commiting fraud, and to not contact me ever again, and that I was hanging up the phone (had to hang up on him because he got super defensive). He immediately called me back (I didn't answer) and left a nasty voicemail saying that I was in big trouble and he didn't apprectiate me hanging up and how I think I am so smart and that he was going to forward the information to my employer (my employer from 3 years ago) and that the next 2 days of my life will be the worst ones of my life and that the cops would be waiting for me at my house. I think I would have to be an idiot to fall for this. I recall a similar voicemail a couple years ago, and after receiving several messages after about a week, I tried to return the call but the number was disconnected. DON'T FALL FOR IT.
