Caller Type: Telemarketer
Phone Number Report: Received a message on my voice mail to call
866-797-4311 because I or someone that I knew had registered me at the mall for a grand prize to be awarded in the form of a Lincoln Navigator or $45,000. I never registered myself nor has anyone that I know. When I called the number back, I was asked several personal questions such as "Was I married?" "What was my husbands name?" "Did the two of us combined make at least $45k per year?" and "Was I between the ages of 25 and 70?" I was told to bring two forms if ID and a credit card along with my husband and his ID and credit card to a location right around the corner from my house. I was told that I would get to pick from a stack of cards. If I drew the #4, I would receive a 32" TV. If I drew #3, I would receive an all expenses paid cruise to the Bahamas from Florida. If I drew #2, I would received $2500 in cash and if I drew #1, I would receive the Navigator or $45,000. I immediately went online to research the phone number that appeared on my caller ID. The number was 563-242-2039 and was shown listed as a Qwest Corporation number in Clinton, IA. I then found this site and see where someone else has reported a similar call. Clearly this was a telemarketer and my number is listed on the DO NOT CALL site! Obviously telemarketers have found a way to get around the call list.
