Caller Type: Telemarketer
Phone Number Report: Got a call from this number, only the caller ID # showed an extra number at the end (odd?): +506-228-05189 so I don't know what the 9 represents but anyways... Automated message stating an offer to the current credit cardholder to reduce APR on my current credit card through their company (they did not say what the name of their 'financial institution' was so I have no idea who they really are). Anyways, when I pressed "1" to take advantage of this offer (so I could find out who they were and if someone really had a credit card out there of mine as I currently don't own ANY credit cards), I was on hold very briefly and a nice gentleman answered the phone and started the whole intro on the reduction of my APR for the credit card. I explained to him that I thought they might have a wrong number and he started to apologize and said "it must be a mistake in the system," then I asked him what info was there, he responded by stating that the information wasn't on his screen, and i said that I wanted to make sure my identity wasn't being stolen cause I don't have any credit cards, and... He hung up on me! What a jerk, so I have no idea who might be out there with a credit card in my name or with my phone number, or if it was just one of those scams to obtain my info. Regardless, I didn't give my name or any info so the call was completely futile... *sighs*
