Phone Number Report: Got a call from this number on 9/8/11. Woman stated she was our BOA "account representative”. Wanted me to make a payment on our credit line which she stated was past due. She also wanted a payment on my husband’s credit card. Neither account payment was actually due for 2 more weeks. She knew enough about our accounts to be credible, but something about her attitude set off red flags. She even threatened that we could be foreclosed on if we didn’t make a payment. At one point, she put me on hold to “check something” even though she had earlier indicated she had all our account information in front of her. At that point I hung up. Next morning my husband called BOA and spoke to several divisions (mortgage, credit cards, and equity/lines of credit). Each of these divisions stated categorically that no one from BOA had called us and there was nothing in their account systems to indicate there was any reason for us to be contacted. No one in any of these divisions could confirm that the phone number is actually a BOA number. They all said we should report the call to BOA fraud department. Don’t give anyone who calls you from this number any information. They appear to be phishing!

Phone Number Report: I attempted to make a purchase with my card, and it was declined. Why? I don't know. However, within minutes of this, this number called me. I was unable to answer it, (cell dropped the call), got voice mail from Card Services. I went to call back to this number, and got a recording saying "this number is inactive". My question is: How do they get away with this?

Phone Number Report: Used my Bank of America credit card for several purchases last night, which is an unusual amount of activity for me. The next morning this number called to ask me about unusual activity on my card. Caller was legit. This happens every quarter when I get my quarterly royalties from my books and use them to purchase business expenses. The card sits idle for 3 months and then...bam...a flurry of activity, and then idle for 3 months...and so on. It's inconvenient to have them call me every quarter when I make my business purchases but it's not a scam.

But some, working for such company either DISABLE THE MONITORING or KNOW WHEN MONITORING CALLS IS NOT ON...and THEN they go "freelance"; you get the idea. If they're calling about YOUR credit card, they SHOULD ALREADY have your info on their PC screen.

Phone Number Report: This female (who sounded African American) called my home on Sunday evening and ask for me by my first and last name. She stated she was calling from the "Bank of America Fraud Division" claiming she was investigating some suspicious activity on my account. As soon as I stated she must have the wrong person as I don't have an account with Bank of America, she said, "Oh really?" in an incredulous voice and then promptly hung up. I should have played along and got as much information from her as I could. Darn it! Caller ID was actually "Private caller" but this is the first place on the Internet I found regarding this type of fraud and naming B of A. In fact, I guess the only other thing for me to do is to try to report what little info I do have to B of A and the FTC.

Phone Number Report: Left message to call about debt matter and left this return number 1-888-609-5453 It might be legit because I know of a card that is in collections (for company I work for) not personal so I called back and just asked to be removed. They answered the phone immediately which makes me feel it is not a legit operation. I mean come on, how often can you call a mega company like bofa or any other and get a human on the first ring?? never! so be cautious not to give your info. CAll your bank directly from the number on the back of you card. Don't call these people.

Phone Number Report: Claimed from VISA fraud division. He was researching charges on 7/19/08 & 7/22 for moving services that he claimed were charged on a deceased persons credit card. Wanted the address we moved customer to. When I explained that I couldn't give out that info he became rude and hung up on me.
