Two calls were on February 5th around 11am and I answered these calls. The guy asked for me by name and said he was calling from the American Government Tax Refund Department. He stated that because I have filed my taxes correctly and on time for the past several years, I was entitled to receive and additional $5000 tax refund. He insisted that I verify I address. I asked him to tell me what he on file. He stated my address. I intentional didn't confirm or deny what he told me. I immediately followed up with the question what other information do you need. He keep asking me to confirm and I kept asking him the same question. I eventually asked him to give me a number I could call him back to verify who he was. He stated I would receive that at the end of the call. I continued to ask him for his information. He hung up. I received another call less than 2 minutes from the same person. I told him you just talked to me. He continue with the same script from the previous call. I told him I was going to report this call to the police. He immediately hung up. I havd not received another call.

Finally this evening they left a voice mail that said I won some prizes after they drew my name out of somewhere. I do not have a Sprint account and thought it might just be an mistake, so I called the number to report their error. The automated answering system at that number said they had called me to thank me for updating my address, and to stay on the line to speak to a representative. I hung up and called Sprint but they were totally clueless, couldn't tell me if they made the call, and shuffled me around until I was finally told to report the call to the FCC. I will contact my phone company to be sure my long distance carrier wasn't changed.

When I pick up, there's usually no one on the line and I get a dial tone after a few seconds. Once in a while I get a person and they always identify themselves as being from Verizion Business. They want to sell me business phone service. I always tell them to put me on their do not call list but this has not put a stop to the calls. The 888 number they call from is different every time. One representative told me that there are 40 different call centers and that the do not call list applies only to the one center. So there really seems to be no hope of these calls ever stopping.

One must have a phone number registered for a minimum of 31 days at donotcall.gov before one can file a complaint... unless it is a recorded phone call. Since there is no answer, I can hardly claim it's recorded, can I?
